Far North Queensland – Paul Walker
My name is Paul Walker and I served in the Army in the 7th Signals Regiment (EW). In 1998, I was posted to Bougainville with the Peace Monitoring Group, then to East Timor in 2000 until 2001 with the United Nations Transitional Administration (UNTAET).
My family and I live in Cairns. I am a Waanyi man from the Gulf of Carpentaria on my mother’s side and my father migrated from Scotland to Australia in the sixties after serving British Army.
I also work with the Cairns RSL Sub Branch. This demonstrates how two ex-service organisations can work together and it is enjoyable to experience the spirit of cooperation.
I enjoyed my time in the Army, and I like to use those skills to as a mental health speaker to inspire others with compassion and understanding of mental injuries.
