Peacekeeper Return to Country Project

The Peacekeeper Return to Country Project is a nationally significant initiative led by the APPVA. This structured program will enable Australian veterans to return to the nations in which they served on peacekeeping and peacemaking operations — reconnecting with communities, landscapes, and shared history that shaped their service.

Inaugural Mission: Namibia 2026

The first Return to Country journey is forecasted for Q3–Q4 2026, marking the 35th Anniversary of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG) deployment to Namibia under United Nations Transition Assistance Group.

This milestone visit will honour service, acknowledge legacy, and provide an opportunity for reflection and renewed international connection.

National Visibility & Documentary Production

A professional documentary is already in production, capturing the personal stories, operational history, and enduring impact of Australia’s peacekeeping contribution. This creates immediate national visibility and a unique opportunity for participants to be part of a significant historical record.
