National Register of Veteran,Veteran Family and Veteran Support Network Issues

Welcome to this page dedicated to the concerns and contributions of veterans, their families, and the organisations that support them. We invite you to share any major issues you believe need resolution, improvement, or development. Our goal is to create a platform where your voices can be heard.

Short Term Aim

The aim of the May to August Meetings are to by1 August 2024 to define and understand the most pressing veteran, veteran family community and veteran support network needs to present them to DVA in a manner that is sufficiently compelling it leaves no option but to resolve them.

Working Together. That our activity is not a DVA bashing activity; rather it needs to be balanced, so the Commonwealth Government and our community can work together.

Approach.

  • The approach will be to identify the top ten issues and then review the top five.
  • With assistance of the veteran community, we will ask for volunteers to write papers for DVA.
  • That papers will then be given to the Secretary of DVA and Deputy Secretaries and Commissioners.
  • All recipients will be invited to the August monthly meeting.
  • DVA Deputy Secretaries have expressed an intent to solve as many of the issues as are possible.

The Results to Date

We will be using the Oasis Townsville Veteran Community Needs model to indicate where the issues we are recording are concering us most. The Oasis Model at Diagram 1 is shown below and it has two more segmants than the AIHW/DVA Model. Our model is not quite as neat yet, however the indicators are there that we can see where we are hurting. See Diagram 2.
