In response to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Victoria’s Shrine of Remembrance has closed its doors to public access: effective immediately and until further notice (subject to weekly review).
Heightened anxiety and perceptions of risk amongst our patrons and personnel, reinforced by today’s decision by Museums Victoria, the State Library and NGV, have caused us to conclude that closure is in the best interests of the Shrine, our staff, volunteers and patrons.
The 2020 Anzac Day Dawn Service will proceed in some form however it is likely Victorians will be asked to commemorate on this important day by watching the Service on television, or via the Shrine’s Facebook or Youtube channel. Further information will be provided in the coming weeks. Updates will also be posted to the Shrine’s Facebook page.
