On this day, the anniversary of the first deployment of Australians on a United Nations peacekeeping mission on 14 September 1947, we recall those who have served in war and peacekeeping missions, and those who did not return to receive the grateful thanks of the nation. We remember the daily the sacrifices that our servicemen and women and their families, make in their quest to restore peace around the world for one and all.
