Consultative and Inclusive

We support veterans, veteran families and everyone who deploys in the national interest of Australia for peacekeeper and peacemaking missions. While uniformed ADF members are very visible in the media when deployed, the majority of operations occur without ADF support, with small numbers of Australian Federal Police, state police, DFAT employees and other state and Commonwealth members.

It is for this reason that our focus on support is not restricted to a minority of the veteran community. Instead it is the majority of the veteran community, the veteran family community and our support networks. Over half of this number have very little to do with DVA and we cannot blame them because when trust is broken it takes a lot to win back.

The APPVA’s core values are:

  • Engage. To engage with our members and like-minded organisations so their collective voice is heard by the Commonwealth and states.
  • Respect. To respect the contributions made by participants in modern operations and demonstrate this by appointing young veterans to representational positions.
  • Connect. To connect all stakeholders through services that are purpose built to give professional care, locally and nationally,

Trust, consultation and inclusivity are core to how we operate.
