ASBESTOS EXPOSURE REGISTRATION
Thursday, 13 May 2010
If you believe you have been exposed to asbestos - e.g. if you worked on any armoured vehicle (or worked on Army vehicle brakes pre 2005), that's a yes - ring this number:
1800 000 655.
This is about being acknowledged for exposure to asbestos - not compensation.
- Call the Defence Hazardous Exposure Help Line on 1800 000 655 or 1800 DEFENCE and say 'Asbestos'
- You can register your details with the operator over the phone, or you can request that the registration form is sent to you.
- You will be given an asbestos registration number during the call. (You will need to quote this number to Health Services Australia staff when making an appointment for assessment.)
They will register you on the National Exposure Register and give you a registered number.
This is to enable easier compensation later in life IF you develop an asbestos-related disease or illness.
