INQUIRY INTO RECOGNITION FOR MEMBERS OF THE ADF FOR SERVICE IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA AFTER 1975

Please find attached the Terms of Reference for the Defence Honours and Awards Tribunal (DHAT) Inquiry into the medallic recognition of service in PNG, Post 16 September 1975.

Principally I am look for people to provide information of their service in PNG (Any time) with the following main points to be covered:

1. Their task whilst in PNG – dates of service;

2. The Environmental Health Risks;

3. The Threat level of personal or psychological harm;

4. Living Conditions; and

5. Justification that the service in PNG was above and beyond that of normal service within Peacetime Service within Australia.

Anyone who wants to be a witness must also indicate, so that I am able to get them to appear and elaborate on their service.

I need the responses or papers ASAP. The closure date is 20 November, so this doesn’t leave much time.

In addition or alternatively, members are strongly encouraged, should they wish to do so, to send their submissions & personal cases to the DHAT Inquiry into ADF Service for Post 16 Sep 1975 recognition in PNG. Postal and email details are as follows:
