ANZAC DAY IN MELBOURNE
25 Apr 2008
Melbourne saw a large number of Peacekeepers and Peacemakers attend various events in Melbourne this year.
The day started with a Dawn Service at the Shrine of Remembrance followed by breakfast at Victoria Barracks.
Before the march, a few people went to Young and Jacksons where new friendships were made, and old friends who had not seen each other for a number of years caught up.
The march was a great success with over 100 marching behind the APPVA banner. There were people who had served in missions to Namibia, Somalia, Rwanda, Cambodia, East Timor, The Soloman Isalnds, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Following the march, most retired to the Imperial Tavern where many a yarn was told. This year many of the families of Veteran's joined in the after march activities which, proved to be a great success. The Imperial Tavern will no doubt be most welcoming to a return of the APPVA next year.
