APMP Activities August/September
Dear APMPC Members,
Warren, Denis and myself met today with the organising team for the Peacekeeping Dinner in Sydney. During discussions it became obvious that we need to consider carefully and integrate all the various activities that we might wish to conduct and be involved in during the Aug/September period in the lead up to the 65th Anniversary of Australian Peacekeeping on 14th August. As agreed by the APMPC the strategy underpinning our involvement in the Dinner and related activities is not merely to raise funds but to gain maximum publicity and elevate the profile of the APMP with Government, Corporate Australia and the general public with the ultimate goal of obtaining a firm commitment from the Federal Government to provide the remaining funds to build the Memorial in 2013/2014.
The following events are already being planned:
Fri 24th August Peacekeeping Dinner in Sydney
Sun 26th August NRL Game South Sydney/Parramatta at ANZ Stadium Homebush
Fri 14th SSeptember Commemorative Service at APMP Site.
Other possible events include:
RAN publicity in Sydney 22-24 Aug
2GB and Telegraph Coverage
Other media coverage
Possible activities in Melbourne and Brisbane.
Please be prepared to discuss a programme of events around Australia and how you and where applicable the organisations you represent may be able to assist. Please feel free to advise any suggestions to me before the next APMPC on 6 June.
